Marketing Research Manager
Job Description
As a Marketing Research Manager, you will be at the heart of the commercial real estate industry, facilitating market-critical information that enables our clients to make informed high-impact business decisions. CoStar Group’s research contributes to the most important segment of our economy, helping businesses open offices, stores, and warehouses as well as manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will:
- Lead a team of 8-12 Marketing Research Advisors dedicated to delivering comprehensive market coverage of accurate and complete commercial real estate information to CoStar clients.
- Be accountable for the continuous delivery of timely, comprehensive and accurate information for the assigned markets/region whilst providing CoStar clients with the highest standard of customer service.
- Be responsible for all data and research activity, as well as relationships with stakeholders within the assigned markets/regions.
- Understand market drivers and activity to ensure the continuous improvement of data, relationships, revenue, and client retention.
- Coordinate and manage the workload and activity of team members to ensure that maximum productivity, efficiency and quality is achieved on the $1 trillion of potential transactions managed through our online marketplace.
- Conduct regular call evaluations, as well as ongoing coaching, training and mentoring sessions which will lead to meaningful telephone interactions, relationship building, effective questioning, listening, probing and sharing of information.
- Coach, mentor and develop team members through individual development plans tailored to skills, competency and career development.
- Prepare quarterly “Territory Plans” outlining planned improvements in data coverage/depth, relationships, and talent management initiatives.
- Be involved in meaningful telephone interaction, relationship building, objection handling, effective questioning, listening, probing, building rapport, tracking relevant publications, and sharing information.
- Investigate the information resources available within the assigned market/region to ensure all possible data sources are researched, that all information is captured, input and published in a timely manner and to the highest quality standards.
- Conduct market/regional audits to ensure that real-time data is being used by clients to make investment and leasing decisions.
- Seek out and respond to client feedback, ensuring the timely resolution of any issues resulting in minimal brand impact and the highest standard of customer service.
- Establish and maintain an excellent understanding of CoStar products and be able to demonstrate the value of these products and CoStar research methodology at client meetings and events, and act as an ambassador for CoStar research to both internal and external customers.
- Identify opportunities to work with sales colleagues in revenue generation and/or protection, and ensure that a coordinated approach is consistently taken, including meeting presentation content.
- Contribute to the vision of being a ”centre of excellence” and an ”employer of choice” through trust, open communication, creative thinking, cohesive team effort and community.
- Assist in recruitment, training and on-boarding of Research Associates.
Requirements:
- Bachelors’ degree or higher required
- No restrictions for travelling to the United States, as training will take place in our Richmond, VA research centre
- Proven leadership ability and experience of leading a team of 8-12
- Leadership and management skills, including the ability to prioritize and control the workload of a team, to coach and to mentor on professional development
- Demonstrated success of building strong, cohesive teams by leading and motivating towards action/execution through influence and collaboration
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, objectivity and the ability to think strategically
- Confident personality with the ability to interact at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS Office, including strong Excel skills
