This is a unique opportunity for an experienced marketing professional to work at both the academic and institutional heart of New Zealand’s first university: the University of Otago - Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka. As a Marketing Specialist, you will play a senior role within the Future Students Marketing team. The role requires a person with strong collaboration, communication and negotiation skills. You will work closely with colleagues across Marketing Services, the wider External Engagement Division and the University. The expertise we provide to the university is wide-reaching and ensures you would work on an exciting range of marketing activities. The role | Te mahi • Working alongside agency partners to develop strategic approaches to media and campaign creative. Managing budgets, delivery expectations and communication between agencies and University leadership. • Knowing our audience – know our prospective students and their journey to higher education, applying these insights to receiving and writing excellent briefs. • Lead channel expertise – know and recommend the best channel/s for the audience and messages. • Opportunity to apply strong digital marketing capability across SEO, SEM, paid media and CRM driving conversion and performance across student recruitment campaigns. • Analysing insights and data – using existing tools to monitor trends in media, brand perceptions, student numbers and audience habits to ensure our marketing approaches are up to date. Your skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheako We are looking for an experienced marketing professional with the following: • 5+ years of experience in delivering marketing campaigns and projects for complex organisations with multiple stakeholders. • Experience working in a variety of channels to deliver integrated campaigns, including digital, social, and content creators. • Proficiency in SEO/SEM, Google Analytics and Social Media management. • Strategic marketing. • Communication, teamwork, and collaboration. • Project management, highly organised, detail-orientated and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Expertise in consumer research, data analysis, CRM systems, lead generation and customer management. • Positive, proactive and solutions orientated. • Central to our strategy is becoming a Te Tiriti-led University. Knowledge of markets, marketing relationships, and networks specific to Māori and/or Pacific audiences is an advantage. Further Details | Pūroko We are offering two roles. One full time (37.5 hours), permanent position and one full time (37.5 hours), fixed term (finishing April 2026) position. Both located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. The appointment range for this position is $80,749 to $85,649. Top of range $100.776 You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this role.
