Description As a Marketing Specialist, you will work closely with technical colleagues, business development professionals, and leadership to shape company-wide marketing and communication efforts. Your key responsibilities will include orchestrating business development strategy and proposal production and deliverables for high-profile competitive pursuits nationwide, by evaluating, positioning for, and securing new business in alignment with the firm’s strategic plan and business goals. The marketing specialist partners with technical staff to drive growth for specific market segments, disciplines, and geographic regions, as assigned. You will collaborate with the team's operations and management by improving processes and maintaining shared platforms and resources. This position also provides critical support to other key marketing team functions, including brand marketing/external communication and internal communication. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Business Development & Opportunity Positioning: Partner with technical staff to evaluate and pursue opportunities, support go/no-go decisions, develop value propositions, and prepare teams for proposal interviews and debriefs. Proposal & Qualification Production: Lead production of proposals, SOQs, resumes, and marketing materials—developing outlines, writing/editing content, coordinating design, and ensuring brand consistency, compliance, quality, and on-time submissions. Pursuit Management & Tracking: Monitor contracting and bid platforms, manage qualification-based opportunity intake and distribution, maintain company profiles, and track pursuits from receipt through award or loss. Growth Strategy & Leadership: Support marketing and business development initiatives aligned with multi-year strategic and annual business plans to drive revenue, visibility, and client experience. Market & Client Research: Analyze market and industry trends to inform pursuit strategies, market focus, and client needs. Client & Relationship Development: Collaborate with technical leaders to manage key client relationships, build industry partnerships, and expand professional networks. Client Outreach & Events: Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations to strengthen brand presence and drive new business. Performance Analysis & Reporting: Analyze pursuit performance and provide insights to improve future business development outcomes. Brand Stewardship: Ensure consistent brand identity, messaging, and visual standards across all internal and external communications. External & Internal Communications: Support technical presentations, papers, awards, website and social content, and internal communications that reinforce culture, strategy, and staff engagement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communication, or marketing. 3+ years of experience in marketing or related field—preferably in the architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry. 2 years of customer service experience preferred. Demonstrated experience with organizing, editing, and preparing long documents. Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe InDesign preferred. Experience with other Adobe Creative Suite applications a plus. Research and/or reporting skills and ability to collect and summarize relevant background information on clients, pursuits, or markets. Excellent interpersonal,?written,?and verbal communication skills, and ability to collaborate with colleagues remotely. Relationship management skills with the ability to develop?productive working relationships with technical staff at all levels of responsibility. Ability to work independently, plan, multitask, and maintain an efficient approach to completing work and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements / Work Environment: Normal office environment with moderate noise levels, occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., prolonged sitting and regular walking, bending, standing and reaching. Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged view of a monitor/screen. Willingness and ability to travel occasionally as needed. Our best estimate of the salary for this position, located in Boston, MA is $74,000 - $109,000 annually. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers’ salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
