Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing Specialist, Promotions is responsible for coordinating and implementing promotions for Kentucky Lottery Corporation (KLC) initiatives and products. Promotions focus includes second chance, iLottery, terminal generated games, Corporate Accounts, and retailers. Serves as lottery advocate developing and implementing consumer initiatives for sponsorships, events, and community outreach to meet corporate goals. Acts as a liaison in communicating corporate information internally and externally. Assists the Director of Brand Marketing and Sponsorships in special projects and initiatives as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related social science required; related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Experience with consumer marketing programs. Promotions experience with convenience/grocery retail environments preferred.
- Experience working with outside vendors; must be able to work well with partners and other employees of the company.
- Experience with project development and implementation, including managing within budget.
- Ability to seek out and analyze information from various data sources and systems and compile in a single source.
- Ability to provide recommendations based on sound judgment and data analysis and prepare reports reflecting findings as well as conduct post-performance measurements and cost/benefit analysis.
- Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines with complete accuracy.
- Ability and willingness to handle multiple projects on a day-to-day basis. Must be extremely organized, thorough, and detail oriented.
- Possess creative thinking skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite – especially Word and Excel.
- Knowledge or experience in lottery industry a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in developing and executing statewide promotions including iLottery, second chance, terminal generated games, retailer incentives, and participating co-partners. Writes rules and regulations and obtains internal approvals. Sets up promotions in the KLC’s computer system and ensures accuracy of information. Coordinates and procures required point of sale (POS) and merchandising materials. Manages promotional drawings. Provides pre- and post-promotion performance analysis. Works with draw team to facilitate drawings. Coordinates with winners.
- Recommends, orders, and monitors promotional premium items required for sales team, events, and general company use. Forecasts usage and manages re-order requirements to meet demand and budget constraints. Coordinates, distributes, and tracks promotional items and coupons. Manages and tracks sponsor assets and allocates for internal and external promotions. Tracks and provides reports on benefit and usage.
- Assists in the development and implementation of annual consumer initiatives including sponsorships, events, community outreach, etc. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and executes assigned initiatives within promotions budget optimizing corporate objectives. Develops and procures required promotional materials. Communicates event details to KLC staff soliciting awareness and participation. Actively participates in events and acts as Lottery Ambassador to customers and retailers by answering questions, creating excitement, and enticing trial of products. Provides pre- and post-event performance analysis utilizing various tools and programs. Provides summary of event accomplishments.
- Works with Regional Sales Managers and Corporate Account Managers to develop localized retail product and chain-specific promotions. Manages and procures required POS, merchandising materials, and promotional prizes. Coordinates and communicates promotional details obtaining required approvals and ensuring proper implementation. Provides pre- and post-performance analysis of cost/benefit.
- Acts as Lottery Prize Patrol to notify winners of prizes they have won as part of a promotion and/or event and provides them with prize details and genuine excitement.
- Acts as active content provider for web and social channels. Develops and creates messaging about promotions and corporate initiatives for internal and external communication including ticket messaging, newsletters, etc. Works collaboratively with Digital Marketing Team to share promotions and events via social platforms.
- Advises and keeps Director informed of activity and project status. Assists in special projects as assigned. Seeks counsel and approval of Director prior to presentation to others.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
