THE OPPORTUNITY:

The University of Manitoba BookStore is seeking a Marketing Supervisor to lead and oversee all aspects of marketing and promotional initiatives in the store. This position will lead the development and execution of marketing strategies for the Bookstore, including in-store and e-commerce promotions, special events, and sales through both digital and traditional channels. The position involves collaborating with department managers to promote relevant products, photographing clothing and other product, creating engaging content for websites, social media, and email campaigns, and ensuring adherence to brand standards. The Marketing Supervisor will also coordinate internal communication to enhance staff collaboration, customer service, as well as coordinate with UM Strategic Marketing, Ancillary Services units, and campus stakeholders, in support of UM BookStore goals.
The ideal candidate will have a university degree or diploma in marketing, communications, or a related field, along with a minimum of one year of experience in print and digital media production, preferably in a retail environment. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and MS Office 365 is essential, as is experience with web content management, social media platforms, and video production. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, organizational, and creative design skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. A background in customer service and supervisory experience is preferred.

THE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • University degree and/or diploma in marketing, communications, technology management, display & design or related field.
  • Minimum one year print and digital media production experience, including web content management, e-newsletter platform, social media platforms, and video, preferably in a retail setting.
  • Two (2) years directly related marketing, communications, and customer service experience at a supervisory level is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 applications.
  • Familiarity with reviewing and rendering content to meet accessibility needs and requirements.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Excellent creative design skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines is required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively required.
  • Proven record of problem-solving ability, and sound judgement is required.
  • High-level understanding of social media and web-based marketing principles and techniques, including metrics and key performance indicators are required.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
