We have built a B2B marketplace that simplifies the process for companies needing temporary furnished housing for relocating employees or policy holders displaced by insured events. Our platform connects companies with a curated network of housing providers, service vendors (furniture rental, insurance, housekeeping), and concierge partners to deliver a seamless temporary furnished housing experience. As we scale, we’re looking for a Marketplace Financial Controller to build and lead the financial backbone of our business.

THE ROLE

The Financial Controller will be a pivotal member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance for a growing marketplace platform. This role requires a strong understanding of marketplace dynamics, including software development, diverse SaaS-based and other revenue streams, payout structures, and specific regulatory and tax considerations associated with operating a multi-sided platform.
You’ll be responsible for building an effective finance team, and for designing, selecting and implementing the financial systems and processes needed to scale, control and guide our marketplace from start-up to high growth.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Responsibilities include overseeing financial closing processes, analyzing data to provide insights to management, preparing financial reports for stakeholders, and monitoring marketplace-specific KPIs.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Leading budgeting and forecasting, monitoring performance against plans, and developing financial models are key duties.
• Internal Controls and Compliance: This involves establishing and maintaining internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulations and tax laws (including marketplace facilitator laws), and managing external audits.
• Cash Flow and Risk Management: Managing cash flow and identifying/mitigating financial and operational risks.
• Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, supervise and mentor the accounting team and foster collaboration with other departments.
• Marketplace Specific Responsibilities: This includes managing transactions related to apartment rental and associated vendor payments, understanding accounting and revenue recognition for a platform model, and ensuring compliance with sales and occupancy tax regulations.
