Markham Corporate – Payroll Administrator

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 per annum
SUMMARY:
Miller Waste Systems is hiring a Payroll Administrator to support payroll operations across multiple Canadian provinces. Reporting to the Corporate HRIS & Payroll Manager, this role involves processing bi-weekly payroll for both salaried and hourly employees, ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, and maintaining accurate records. Responsibilities include handling new hires, terminations, government remittances, and payroll reporting. Proficiency in ADP or Ceridian (Dayforce preferred), strong Excel skills, and a solid understanding of payroll regulations are essential. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and maintains confidentiality with professionalism.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Formal payroll specific training and/or significant Canadian payroll experience.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience performing payroll and benefits administration.
- Recent experience with ADP and/or Ceridian payroll software. Dayforce experience preferred.
- Proven people skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be able to comprehend HRIS system and other system programs.
- Knowledge of legislation, rules and regulations affecting payroll including taxation, employment standards, Worker’s Compensation, Employment Insurance, garnishments and benefits.
- Must be proficient in MS Office programs, especially Excel.
- Clear written and verbal communications.
- Ability to work well under pressure and able to plan, prioritize, organize work to meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Able to maintain confidential information.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Strong work ethics and positive team attitude.
