Job DetailsJob Location: St. Louis, MO 63146Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $25.00 - $25.00 HourlyJob Category: Restaurant - Food ServiceThe Mashgiach is responsible for ensuring the preparation and serving of food at The J meets all kosher dietary laws, maintaining the integrity of the kosher kitchen, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This role plays a vital part in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring that food preparation, ingredients, and equipment used meet the highest standards of kashrut. Supervise all aspects of food preparation to ensure adherence to kosher laws. Verify that all ingredients and products meet kosher certification requirements. Inspect deliveries and approve incoming food items. Ensure proper cleaning, kashering, and maintenance of kitchen equipment. Train kitchen and service staff on kosher practices and procedures. Provide ongoing education and reinforcement of kashrut standards. Supervise catered events, special programs, and off-site functions as needed. Assist with food preparation as needed. Help our team organize, properly label and store incoming product deliveries. Stock and organize the stockroom in accordance with kosher guidelines. Support preparation and packaging of camp lunches and other program meals. Qualifications Strong knowledge of kosher laws and practices. Prior experience as a Mashgiach or in a kosher kitchen preferred. Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and move moderate weights. Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Schedule: Full-time position; schedule may vary based on kitchen operations, events, and holidays.
