We’re expanding into Mass Timber construction and seeking experienced Mass Timber Carpenters to join our growing workforce in Redding, CA. Position Overview: The Mass Timber Carpenter will be responsible for the installation of prefabricated Mass Timber structures, including CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) and glulam components. Carpenters will work closely with both the Mass Timber Foreman and the Steel Erection crews to deliver precision-built projects in the field. Key Responsibilities: Timber Installation & Layout Assemble and install Mass Timber components in accordance with shop drawings and engineered plans. Use tools to cut, fit, and connect CLT and glulam using hardware, concealed fasteners, and anchors. Assist with layout, setting, and alignment using laser levels, tapes, and measurement systems. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety rules and participate in daily tailgate meetings and pre-task planning. Wear required PPE and follow Sure Steel and Cal/OSHA jobsite protocols. Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately to site supervision. Tool Use & Material Handling Operate hand tools, power tools, saws, and drills in a safe and competent manner. Assist with rigging and placement of panels or beams using cranes and lifts. Maintain personal tools and jobsite cleanliness. Teamwork & Coordination Work with hybrid crews including steelworkers and riggers to sequence installations safely. Assist in loading/unloading of materials and organizing jobsite logistics. Follow Foreman’s direction and provide input to improve efficiency and quality. Qualifications Required: Minimum 2 years of experience in Mass Timber, heavy timber framing, or CLT/glulam installation. OSHA 30 Certification (must be valid and current). Must provide and maintain your own personal carpentry tools. Reliable transportation to and from Redding-area job sites. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs. Preferred: Prior experience working on hybrid steel/timber construction sites. Forklift or aerial lift certifications (a plus, not required). Understanding of shop drawings and engineered timber systems. Work Conditions: Typical schedule is Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Outdoor construction environment; exposure to sun, rain, dust, and heights. Overtime is paid in accordance with California Labor Code §510. Meal and rest breaks provided per California Labor Code §512 and Wage Order 16. Compensation & Employment Terms: Competitive hourly or daily rate, depending on employment classification. Weekly payroll. Eligible travel stipend between $255.00–$510.00/month depending on commute distance. Overtime eligible; 1.5x after 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week.
