Summary
Are you a student on a science degree program and looking to write an interesting thesis in industry? Do you work independently and with a high level of self-motivation? In the “Smart Sensors” team at HENSOLDT Optronics GmbH, we are looking for a dedicated student (f/m/d) to analyze sporadically failing pixels (flashers) in IR detectors. The focus here is on the recording and evaluation of measurement series and the design of a method for the detection of blinkers.
As part of your work with us, you will work with state-of-the-art IR detectors, embedded processors and development methods in close cooperation with the development team. You will be working close to the state of the art in the field of embedded IR camera development and possibly beyond. We look forward to receiving your application!

Your Tasks

  • Analysis of the current state of the art for defect pixel detection (in particular sporadically failing pixels / indicators) of IR detectors
  • Recording and evaluation of measurement series of various LWIR and MWIR detectors
  • Development of a method for detecting flashing pixels during the commissioning of IR cameras
  • Implementation, adaptation and optimization of suitable methods in MATLAB or Python.
  • Documentation of the results
  • Optional: High-performance implementation in C++ for an embedded system (ARM quad-core processor)

Your Profile

  • Enrolled student of computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics or a similar field of study
  • Very good programming skills in MATLAB or Python
  • Good programming skills in Modern C++ (C++23) are an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of image processing
  • Profound knowledge of German and English

Happy to hear

  • Work on extraordinary high-tech products at the limits of physics
  • Competitive compensation
  • Flexible working time and workplace models
