AS A MASTER’S THESIS WORKER, YOU WILL:

  • Analyse energy statistics with a focus on country-specific details of the heating and cooling sector, and study the current status regarding decarbonisation and expected developments related to it
  • Update and develop the energy systems modelling of the aforementioned sector
  • Utilise the developed modelling capabilities in order to analyse the expected development within EU countries or for selected countries in Europe
  • Present your findings in recurring internal meetings and with externals, if necessary.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A highly motivated student with interest in decarbonizing energy systems, and a relevant educational background in e.g. energy technologies, advanced energy solutions or a related field.
  • Understanding on the relevance of having systemic perspective related to development of the energy sector, a person excelling in of analytical thinking and general problem-solving
  • Good skills in English (reading, writing, presenting).

As a Master’s Thesis Worker, your key goals are to focus on the decarbonisation of the European heating sector. In this position, you will have an essential role in developing the models and methodology, and to provide meaningful input for supporting decision-making and scientific research.
Our team, Energy transition, supports decision making. We are an interdisciplinary research team of 19 professionals, and we combine quantitative and qualitative analysis methods in analysing technical and social change. Our mission is to solve global challenges in climate change, environment, and social well-being through comprehensive analysis of future systems. The team is part of the Energy research area, that drives technologies and solutions for energy transition and industrial de-carbonisation: hydrogen, electrification, CCUS and power systems, as well as digitally powered fast scaleup and systemic solutions supporting clean transition.
