MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of five (5) years specific experience in vehicle maintenance operations, supervision, inspection, Quality Assurance (QA) and related areas.
  • Must also possess superb mechanical skills, as well as master knowledge of hydraulics and/or pneumatic systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent training & experience.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain any visa required.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
Responsibilities

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Troubleshoots and performs maintenance on internal combustion engines and accessories, power trains, and vehicle chassis components on a military installation. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs repairs and preventive maintenance checks and service.
  • Prepares vehicles for operation under abnormal conditions by sealing, waterproofing, and servicing and special fuel and lubricants.
  • Performs maintenance to correct malfunctions of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems or components.
  • Tests and operates vehicles and equipment as required and observes for evidence of abnormal operation.
  • Operates, or assists in the operation of, track vehicles in conjunction with maintenance and recovery operation.
  • Interprets schematic diagrams.
  • Provide vehicle services (management and maintenance) and ground transportation services.
  • Provide for efficient and economical operation and maintenance of the vehicle fleet.
  • Ensure that all vehicles released from vehicle maintenance shop shall meet standards.
  • Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
  • Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
  • Tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.
  • Ensure vehicles placed in short term storage such as NMCS and vehicles awaiting disposition instructions are properly protected from the weather/environment and inspected a minimum of once every 30 calendar days.
  • Utilize recovery assets for authorized customers that have broken down across the island.
