An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mat Products Assistant Manager to join our small & friendly team

BACKGROUND:

We are one of the UK’s leading growers of wildflower and sedum mats, a business built on our 50 years’ experience in the lawn turf industry. We have an exciting opportunity at our Feltwell (Norfolk) farm and are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working individual with a passion for working outdoors. Our small team are multi-skilled – and able to perform manual work with the same energy and enthusiasm they apply to tractor work. Prior agricultural or horticultural experience is required.
Responsible for overseeing the mat products harvest and production teams as well as carrying out mat products production and harvesting tasks. Overseeing and implementing maintenance of equipment and carrying out general farm worker duties.

PURPOSE OF JOB

1. To oversee and work with the production team and harvest supervisor and to liaise with the Mat Products Manager on a daily basis reporting progress and findings.
2. To keep records of operations within production fields.
3. To provide driving skills to carry out preparation of and cultivation/seeding of the mat product beds and operations when required
4. To maintain all machinery and equipment used.
5. To ensure the smooth running of operational activities within the Mat Products Enterprise
6. To carry out general farm worker duties
7. To ensure Quality Aspects are maintained
8. To carry out work within Health & Safety guidelines

MAIN TASKS

• To take responsibility for planning all tasks for the production team in conjunction with the Harvest supervisor
• To proactively keep Mat Products Manager informed of progress/changes to planned work schedule/staff issues etc
• To oversee the production team and ensure they are fully trained/their work is planned and monitored/resolve issues as they arise within the production team.
• To carry out production/harvesting and irrigation tasks alongside the teams
• To monitor and maintain quality of the products
• To ensure product is of the grade and standard for the customers’ needs
• General maintenance of all turf machinery in line with Machinery manuals
• Completion of relevant Paperwork, records etc. on a daily basis
• In the off season to assist workshops in maintenance and repair of farm machinery and equipment.

GENERAL DUTIES

1. Ensure Estate, yards and fields are kept in a tidy and proper manner
2. General Farm Worker duties
