Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Mata Ahupae - School Administrator to join Te Kawa a Māui - School of Māori Studies on a permanent, full-time contract. Key responsibilities: Provide accurate and timely information and advice to staff and students (by phone, face-to-face, and email). Provide administrative support for all course-related work. Provide administrative support for academic and postgraduate research-related work. Undertake general office administration duties. Provide financial administrative support for the Pou Hautū - School Manager. Demonstrate a high level of technical competence and accuracy with databases, web applications and operating in a PC/Windows environment (e.g. Office 365). Assist with administrative tasks relating to health and safety requirements. Updating of Te Kawa a Māui website. Provide support for events occurring in Ngā Mokopuna. Ō pūmanawa - About you You will: Be a motivated, customer-focused individual who can take the initiative, provide excellent administration and customer service. Thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, an ability to influence and manage conflict, strong attention to detail, and self-management skills. This role is busy, challenging, extremely rewarding and interesting for the individual with the right temperament. Be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. Need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff. Key requirements: Proven experience and excellence in customer service and office administration, providing administrative services in a busy office. Experience communicating clearly and concisely with a wide range of people over a variety of communication methods. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. An intermediate to advanced level of ability in Office 365 applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Technical competence in using systems and applications, especially databases, to a high standard of accuracy. Proven ability to work effectively under pressure.
