Description
Mate Requirements Qualification as a Captain on one or several of the following rivers: Danube Dutch and Belgian rivers Rhine, Main and Moselle Seine, Rhône and Saône A or B river patent Radar and radio certificate for the respective areas of operation Ability to communicate in German for navigation purposes Ability to communicate in English with guests and company personnel. Leadership skills Good social skills and ability to interact with guests Organized and dependable personality with a strong sense of responsibility Safety expert. First aid and breathing apparatus training is desirable but not a requirement Role and Responsibilities Represent the company values and visions Ensure a professional and courteous service while managing the daily operations Maintain company standards and operating procedures Ensure the safety of the ship, staff, and passengers Adhere and enforce the company “Safety Management plan” Conduct quality controls and spot checks Supervise all nautical-technical maintenance Supervise and assist the nautical team in carrying out their deck work Interact with guests courteously on a regular basis Liaise professionally with local authorities during inspections and audits Assist with safety equipment checks and ship maintenance following company protocols Side Tasks Assist the captain with preparations and supervision of winter repairs Assist with other duties such as luggage service, loading, and garbage off-loading Assist with execution of all safety drills Report any accidents or incidents to the captain Identify “near miss” situations accordingly and follow up with reports Participate in scheduled trainings, briefings, and meetings
