MATERIAL COORDINATION TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT

Location: Geleen
Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Material Coordinator to manage and oversee the flow of materials for our organization. The Material Coordinator will ensure smooth operations by handling inventory, processing orders, inspecting shipments, and maintaining strong communication with suppliers. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and efficient material management.
A Day in the Life of a Material Coordinator: Your day will begin by reviewing pending material requisitions and checking inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock. If materials are low, you will need to place orders for restocking and ensure they are processed in a timely manner. Throughout the day, you will coordinate the receipt of materials, inspecting shipments for quality and quantity, and ensuring they align with purchase orders. You will need to maintain open lines of communication with suppliers to address any issues such as late deliveries or discrepancies. Additionally, you will ensure timely payments for purchase orders and resolve any unforeseen issues related to materials. Your role will also involve supporting internal teams by providing material lists and collaborating to maintain accurate Bills of Materials for both internal and external projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of materials and maintain accurate records to ensure timely replenishment. Track materials that are low in stock and initiate reordering to prevent delays in production.
  • Order Processing: Process material requisitions, ensuring all orders are placed and reviewed in a timely manner. Work closely with vendors and suppliers to guarantee prompt and accurate delivery of materials.
  • Receiving & Inspection: Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders to ensure materials meet company standards before acceptance.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all materials are stored in accordance with safety regulations. Promote and adhere to safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Supplier Communication: Foster and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Address and resolve purchase order issues and negotiate lead times when needed to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Internal Support for internal and external projects: Collaborate with internal teams to gather information needed for creating material lists for internal and external projects. Ensure materials are aligned with both internal and external requirements.
  • Material Implementation and Management: Assist in the integration of materials into the system, ensuring proper tracking and inventory management. Collaborate with various departments to create and maintain stock for both ongoing and upcoming project
  • Material/Sample Shipment Coordination: Manage and coordinate the shipment of materials and samples to and from client sites, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
