Key Responsibilities Assist in managing and assigning tasks to materials laboratory technicians. Coordinate and schedule material-related testing for products. Support the maintenance and proper functioning of laboratory equipment, and ensure sufficient inventory of laboratory consumables. Handle laboratory-related matters in the absence of the Materials Laboratory Supervisor. Conduct research on new materials and manufacturing technologies to enhance product quality and/or reduce costs. Provide recommendations to suppliers regarding material selection or process-related issues. Collaborate closely with personnel from design, project management, manufacturing, quality, and procurement departments. Experience in failure analysis and proposing corrective actions is highly desirable. Ability to manage and optimize heat treatment processes for all new products and existing components is a plus. Assist the Laboratory Manager and Materials Laboratory Supervisor with other assigned tasks. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering or Materials Science (preferably with a focus on metals). Familiarity with metal testing equipment, methodologies, and relevant standards (laboratory experience preferred). Hands-on experience with hardness testing, chemical composition analysis, and microstructural examination. Experience in steel heat treatment within a manufacturing environment. Ability to interpret technical drawings, with comprehensive knowledge and experience in metal manufacturing. Strong self-management, continuous learning, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications (Not Required) Expertise in non-ferrous metal casting (e.g., aluminum, zinc). Proficiency in non-metallic materials (e.g., elastomers, plastics). Experience in failure analysis and execution of material-related projects (e.g., raw material selection, process development, material property evaluation).
