Description Position Overview The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, organizing, and distributing fencing materials in a warehouse or yard setting. This role requires physical stamina, the ability to operate various equipment, and strong organizational skills to ensure that materials are ready for delivery to customers or contractors. Key Responsibilities Material Receiving & Inspection Receive shipments of fencing materials and verify quantities and quality against purchase orders Inspect incoming materials for damage and report any discrepancies Label and tag materials according to company procedures Inventory Management Organize and maintain material stock in the yard or warehouse to ensure easy access and minimize damage Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move materials around the yard Assist in periodic inventory checks, ensuring that stock levels are accurate Record material usage and update inventory systems Order Preparation & Shipping Support Pull and stage fencing materials for orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness Load materials onto delivery trucks and ensure proper securing for safe transport Ensure orders are loaded in a timely manner to meet delivery deadlines Safety & Housekeeping Follow safety procedures and guidelines when operating equipment and handling materials Keep the yard or warehouse organized, clean, and free of hazards Perform routine safety checks of equipment, such as forklifts, and report any malfunctions Customer & Team Collaboration Assist with customer and contractor pickups, ensuring they receive the correct materials Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure smooth material flow and accurate deliveries Provide assistance to supervisors and team members when needed Work Hours Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Overtime: Available as needed based on business requirements Requirements Qualifications Previous experience in material handling, warehouse, or construction environments preferred Forklift or material handling equipment experience required Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks Basic knowledge of fencing materials and construction is a plus Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members Physical Demands Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and outdoor environments Additional Skills & Experience Strong organizational skills Basic math skills for inventory management Positive, team-oriented attitude This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth flow of materials within a fence distribution center.
