POSITION SUMMARY

The Material Handler & Service Technician supports the efficient and safe operation of the injection molding department by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of raw materials to machines, maintaining production equipment, and performing routine cleaning and troubleshooting tasks. This dual-role position is critical in minimizing downtime and maintaining product quality within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification an asset.
  • 1–2 years experience in a manufacturing or plastics injection molding environment preferred.
  • Forklift license and experience (counterbalance, reach truck, etc.) required or willingness to obtain.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESMATERIAL HANDLING DUTIES:

  • Load and unload raw materials, resins, and colorants to and from machines using forklifts or manual handling methods.
  • Stage materials based on production schedules, ensuring the correct material is delivered to the correct machine.
  • Use RF scanners or manual logs to track inventory movements and material usage.
  • Monitor material levels at machines and refill hoppers and dryers as needed to avoid production delays.
  • Label, store, and return unused materials to appropriate locations.
  • Follow all safety procedures when handling chemicals, resins, and other production materials.

SERVICE TECHNICIAN DUTIES:

  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of injection molding machines, dryers, grinders, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Assist with mold changes, tool setups, and machine restarts under the direction of the setup technician or maintenance team.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical or process issues, escalating to maintenance when necessary.
  • Clean and inspect molds, hoses, and filters for wear, leaks, or contamination.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the materials and service area, including proper storage of tools and equipment.
  • Support quality assurance by identifying and reporting non-conforming materials or operational issues.
