Inc., Job Description DEPARTMENT: Material Handler JOB PURPOSE & REPORTING STRUCTURE Under the supervision of the Paint Supervisor and Shop Supervisor, the Material Handler maintains product by moving materials, either manually or using equipment such as trucks or forklifts. The Material Handler performs a variety of tasks including staging, loading, and offloading products. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, placing, and recording materials and supplies in stock Move materials to and from delivery trucks Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials/supplies listed on work orders Work closely with purchasing department to help establish, order, and maintain approved stock quantities Understand functions and operations of saws and iron worker Visually inspect final product for conformance to established quality standards and blueprint specifications Assume responsibility for equipment maintenance, schedules, and recordkeeping Operate trucks, forklifts, cranes, and other equipment to move freight Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion and comply with all quality and safety procedures QUALIFICATION JOB FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience- The individual must have prior experience with running large equipment. Language Skills- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Skills/Abilities- Ability to learn to operate various equipment, assorted hand tools, forklift, and crane/hoist. Requires the basic knowledge of company products and procedures. Steel-toed work boots/shoes, sleeves, gloves are also required, according to the procedure or operation.
