JOB TITLE: MATERIAL HANDLER / Forklift Operator

JOB SUMMARY:

The Material Handler plays a crucial role in assisting and maintaining the quality and efficiency of Parker Fasteners’ cold heading operations. Responsible for sorting, handling and managing all raw material that is used for the cold heading department, while ensuring the accuracy of inventory while routinely helping multiple Sr. Machinists as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 5 years forklift experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Manufacturing or Logistics, with direct material handling responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems or Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English; Spanish bilingual abilities highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Good mathematical aptitude and ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite for record-keeping and reporting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Forklift Operator.
  • Prior machine operating skills or industry knowledge.
  • Experience in roles requires strict adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Operate forklift with a high level of proficiency to maneuver materials through the manufacturing plant.
  • Transport parts between different departments as needed.
  • Help keep heading area clean and clear of scrap, clutter & spills.
  • Conduct oil changes on headers as directed by supervisor.
  • Watch or operate various machines as needed to assist our senior level machinists.
  • Handle the receipt, distribution, and secure storage of raw materials, including conducting detailed records of transactions.
  • Perform cycle counts of raw materials to maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Transport, load, and unload raw materials, supplies, and finished goods, utilizing manual methods and tools like hand trucks and forklifts.
  • Weigh raw materials and accurately log weights.
  • Manage and maintain scrap collection, disposal, and related reporting, ensuring proper documentation and communication with relevant departments on a weekly basis.
  • Load and draw raw material to help heading machine operators.
  • Consistently maintain an organized work area and effectively manage their workload to meet deadlines, taking initiative to anticipate needs and stay ahead of tasks
  • Assist in various duties as assigned by heading supervisor to support team and operational needs.
