Summary The Material Handler is responsible for loading, unloading and moving materials within or near the plant, yard or work site. Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices. Receives, processes and tags incoming material Moves inventory materials to their respective area Issues parts to areas of work in process Uses steel cutters, crowbar, clawhammer or other hand tools to open containers. Performs cycle counting and physical inventories Maintains equipment in clean, good working order Documents and enters inventory information into the computer system Qualifications The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties. Minimum Qualifications Experience in forklift operations Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, steel toed boots, goggles, ear plugs, gloves Proficient in computer software applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook Ability to communicate and collaborate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels Ability to organize and prioritize projects and information with accuracy, under tight timeframes, to meet organizational needs Ability to set goals independently and take initiative to accomplish them Preferred Qualifications Materials or warehouse experience One + years work experience as a material handler in an industrial setting Proficient with the American Association of Railroads (AAR) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) industry and customer requirements Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
