Description The Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of specialized material handling equipment, including double deep reach trucks, within a high-volume distribution center. This role supports warehouse operations by accurately storing, picking, transporting, and replenishing inventory in a double deep racking system while maintaining high standards for safety, productivity, and inventory accuracy. Key Responsibilities Operate double deep reach trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other MHE safely and efficiently. Perform putaway, replenishment, and picking tasks as directed by the warehouse management system (WMS). Accurately scan, label, and record inventory movements using handheld or vehicle-mounted devices. Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues promptly. Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work environment. Assist with inventory activities such as cycle counts and audits. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet or exceed operational targets. Follow all safety protocols and report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum 1–2 years of MHE operating experience, with specific experience on double deep reach trucks preferred. Valid forklift/MHE certification (or ability to obtain). Understanding of warehouse operations, safety practices, and equipment handling. Ability to read and interpret safety instructions and operational documentation. Proficiency with WMS and RF scanning devices. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/sit for extended periods, and work in changing warehouse conditions. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively. The first shift operates Monday–Friday from 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The second shift operates Sunday-Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Final schedules will be determined by department assignment (Assembly, Picking, Packing, Shipping, Returns, or Receiving). Overtime should be expected during high-volume periods, and flexibility to work additional hours is required. Work Environment Fast-paced distribution center or warehouse environment. Exposure to varying temperatures depending on the season and warehouse conditions. Frequent use of powered material handling equipment. Physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and prolonged periods of movement. Physical demands Standing and/or Walking 90% of the day, bending, reaching, stooping. Able to lift up to 50 pounds Preferred Skills Experience working in high-bay, narrow-aisle, or double deep racking systems. Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, or other leading WMS platforms. Demonstrated commitment to safety, productivity, and continuous improvement. The salary rate for this position in the selected city is $19.00 hourly. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and geographical location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work. This role is bonus eligible.
