Worthington Steel in Porter, IN is hiring Material Handlers to support our packaging operations. What You’ll Get * Starting pay: $20.00/hour * $2.00/hour shift premium for 2nd and 3rd shift * Paid training on 1st shift (7am–3pm) * Clear path to advancement — many employees grow into skilled roles or leadership positions * A strong safety-focused, team-oriented work environment Schedule * Train on 1st shift (7am–3pm) for the first few months * After training, transition to: * 2nd shift (3pm–11pm) OR * 3rd shift (11pm–7am) * Shift premium applies once you move off 1st shift What You’ll Do You’ll play an important role in keeping production running safely and efficiently. Day-to-day work includes: * Banding, packaging, and preparing materials for shipment * Moving steel materials using forklifts and/or cranes * Supporting production lines by staging materials and removing finished product * Assisting with basic machine setup and operation * Tracking and labeling materials accurately * Keeping work areas clean and safe What We’re Looking For Must-Have: * Ability to work on your feet and handle physical, repetitive tasks * Basic math and reading skills * Attention to detail and commitment to safety * Willingness to learn and work as part of a team * Excellent attendance * Desire to grow, take initiative, and build a long-term career Nice-to-Have (not required): * Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience * Mechanical aptitude * Experience reading a tape measure or using banding tools * Forklift or crane experience People who do well in this role tend to be dependable, motivated, and interested in growing within a manufacturing environment.
