At our plant in Glenrothes, Scotland we design, develop, and produce radial piston motors working in partnership with world renowned international OEMs in industries such as material handling, construction, and forestry machinery. Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Material Planner to join our dynamic supply chain team. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the timely availability of components for our production lines, creating and managing material schedules based on the plant's forecast. The ideal candidate will be an expert in inventory management, working to meet production demands while adhering to strict inventory targets. As a central point of contact for suppliers, you will leverage your exceptional communication skills and robust ERP system experience, particularly with SAP, to drive operational excellence. Material Scheduling: Create, maintain, and communicate component delivery schedules to our external supply base in line with production forecasts and material requirements. Inventory Management: Meticulously monitor and control inventory levels to guarantee material availability for production while achieving corporate inventory turnover and value targets. System Management: Utilize our ERP system (SAP) to manage the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process, issue schedules, and ensure data accuracy. Supplier Collaboration: Act as the primary operational contact for suppliers, managing delivery schedules, resolving issues, and providing regular feedback on performance metrics such as On-Time Delivery (OTD). Problem Solving: Proactively identify potential supply risks and swiftly implement corrective actions to address supplier issues, transit delays, or quality holds to prevent production downtime. Change Management: Effectively manage the impact of engineering changes, demand fluctuations, or other disruptions on the material plan, ensuring smooth transitions and clear communication to all stakeholders. Reporting & Analysis: Generate and distribute key reports to the management chain regarding inventory status, supplier performance, and potential risks. Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Internal Collaboration: Work closely with Production, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure a cohesive and efficient internal supply chain. Qualifications Proven experience in a material planning, production scheduling, or supply chain role within a manufacturing environment. Strong, hands-on experience with an ERP system is essential, with a high proficiency in SAP (specifically PP/MM modules). Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize inventory levels against set targets. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
