Description

SUMMARY

Leeta Materials is driving technological progress and prosperity through scientific advancement in industrial materials manufacturing. We are a seed-stage hard-tech start-up developing innovative microwave-based heating systems to more effectively and efficiently make the materials that power our society.
Leeta is bringing passionate scientists and individuals together to collectively build a team that is committed to strong collaboration and excellent work. We share the belief that what we build is directly inspired by our people. This position will involve working directly with the product development team to help formulate high performance ceramic products. You will do more than join a team, you will create something new every day.

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Materials Processing Technician to join our team in developing next-generation ceramic tools and components. This role is centered around supporting our R&D and production operations through the preparation, handling, and processing of advanced powders and ceramic materials.
The ideal candidate enjoys manual work, is comfortable working with powders and lab equipment, and is eager to learn new techniques in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will be involved in preparing material batches, pressing and sintering test parts, assisting with performance testing, and helping maintain a clean and safe workspace.
Experience from adjacent industries such as automotive mechanics, machining, metal fabrication, or general shop work is highly valued. We welcome candidates who are eager to apply their hands-on skills in a new and innovative environment.
This position is a great opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who is looking to grow their skillset in the field of advanced materials and sustainable manufacturing. Training will be provided for specialized processes and equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate degree or certificate in a technical or mechanical field (e.g., materials science, manufacturing technology, chemistry, mechanical engineering tech)
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in a lab, pilot production, or industrial environment preferred (but not required)
  • Experience in fields such as car mechanics, machining, metalwork, or industrial maintenance is strongly encouraged and considered highly transferable
  • Experience with powder handling, materials processing, or thermal equipment is a plus, but on-site training will be provided

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs and written protocols
  • Familiarity with scales, calipers, and other basic measurement tools
  • Willingness to learn new industrial equipment and laboratory techniques
  • Comfortable handling powdered materials and performing repetitive physical tasks
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs and work safely in a PPE-required environment
  • Basic computer literacy for logging data and following digital work instructions
  • Interest in materials, ceramics, or technical manufacturing is a bonus
Responsibilities
  • Support powder processing activities including weighing, mixing, sieving, and loading/unloading of materials
  • Operate and monitor equipment such as mixers, furnaces, presses, and other thermal/process tools
  • Assist in die pressing, green body preparation, and sintering processes for ceramic tool and component development
  • Perform basic measurements and material testing (e.g., mass, dimensions, hardness)
  • Follow written procedures and safety protocols when handling materials and equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to carry out test plans and track results
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, inventory of supplies, and accurate documentation of work performed
  • Wear appropriate PPE and adhere to health and safety standards, particularly for powder handling environments
