As a Material & Technology Engineer (MTE) for Veneer and Wood Expression, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our materials and technologies. Your work will help us deliver products that are better in quality, more sustainable, and cost-effective—right from the start. Job Description As Material & Technology Engineer for Veneer and wood expression, you will be a key contributor, initiating and leading material & technology development and improvement of existing materials and technologies in order to improve performance, durability, cost effectiveness and sustainability of products. You will bring your material and process knowledge into the product development process, supporting “right from the beginning” with best overall solution in terms of cost, performance. You will secure category specific knowledge of Materials and Technologies and clarify and maintain current IKEA standards to ensure IKEA’s competitive advantage. Your main responsibilities in Veneer and wood expression will be to: Lead development and improvement projects for veneer and wood technologies. Stay ahead of industry trends and share insights with stakeholders. Support product development teams with material and process expertise. Maintain and communicate specifications, standards, and material registers. Collaborate with test labs and compliance teams to develop new test methods. Drive knowledge sharing and lead material-specific trainings. Ensure standardization and effective implementation of proven materials. Qualifications University degree or equivalent experience in wood materials or related field. Strong knowledge of material characteristics and production technologies in wood. Experience in project leadership and influencing through collaboration. Analytical and business-minded approach with a passion for sustainability.
