Job Title: Materials and Stores Controller
Purpose of Position
Responsible for the buying and scheduling of all materials in line with production requirements, sales forecasts and business plans. To control the day-to-day operations in the packaging and materials store. This role is pivotal for effective stock management, ultimately aiding the delivery of the Company’s goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a Purchasing/Procurement role;
  • Proficient user of MS Office;
  • Valid Reach Truck license preferred, but training can be given

Responsibilities

The following specific job responsibilities relate to this position:
· Source and order both packaging and materials in line with inventory levels and forecasting to ensure the highest quality products are purchased at the most competitive prices, whilst ensuring stock levels are optimum;
· Co-ordinate inspections of packaging and materials deliveries received, ensuring that they are accurate and of an acceptable standard;
· Manage the Store-freight Warehouse Management System, ensuring goods are booked in and out accordingly;
· Working closely with the Head of Planning to monitor, track and trend stock levels/usage taking seasonal trends into account and set suitable re-order quantities, utilising management systems available;
· Expedite orders and complete logistical follow up’s if required;
· Communicate to the business in advance of any concerns in supply to allow for discussion on solutions;
· Enter goods received onto the Purchase Order System and correlate items received against the relevant Purchase Order;
· Carry out month end stock checks and general stock checks to ensure that production has sufficient stocks of all packaging materials;
· Keep abreast of latest trends and technology in packaging. Identify possible packaging changes in line with environmental considerations e.g. recycling material changes;
· Working with other departmental functions to assist in developing accurate specifications and resolving any quality issues;
· Ensuring packaging codes are maintained in the packaging database and updated within the purchase order spreadsheet;
· Authorisation of invoices;
· Ensure smooth and efficient operation of the store;
· Ensure the packaging store is kept tidy and BRC audit ready at all times;
· Ensure goods are properly packaged and labelled;
· Proactive in the Health and Safety of the store.
