Description Overview: Cates Control Systems is seeking a dedicated and organized Materials Clerk to join our growing team in Webster, TX! This is a dynamic opportunity where you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse by managing materials and supporting production teams. Job Purpose: As a Materials Clerk, you will be responsible for maintaining an organized warehouse, managing inventory, and ensuring materials are available for the shop floor. You will play a vital role in supporting production teams by ensuring materials are properly stocked and accounted for. Key Responsibilities: Organize and maintain inventory, work-in-progress (WIP), and receiving areas to ensure smooth operations. Respond to and complete tasks assigned by production departments to meet project needs. Assist production technicians by pulling parts from stock and ensuring parts are delivered promptly. Pull and issue materials from inventory to specific jobs, ensuring the correct parts are provided. Inspect and verify incoming supplier shipments for accuracy and condition. Record and enter received parts into inventory management software accurately. Store received materials in correct inventory locations for easy access. Organize job materials into designated bins, creating new bins as necessary. Properly tag and store materials under respective job numbers for each project. Pull items from inventory and prepare packing slips for outgoing sales orders. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory or job orders. Process returns of materials to stock or to suppliers for credit. Manage waste and recycling, emptying trash and recycling containers as needed. Conduct weekly cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory levels. Performance Metrics: Maintain accurate inventory levels and stock counts. Ensure timely and accurate put-away of materials. Complete assigned production tasks efficiently and accurately. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. At least 1 year of prior experience in a similar materials or inventory role is preferred. Forklift experience is a plus but not required. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently. Experience with basic computer skills and inventory management software (ERP systems). Skills and Abilities: Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively. Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks. Clear and professional communication skills (both written and verbal). Basic troubleshooting skills to address inventory discrepancies.
