JOB DESCRIPTION

• Evaluate and recommend metals and finishes based on design intent, structural integrity, durability, and visual appeal
• Develop and maintain material specifications, finish catalogues, and testing standards for architectural applications
• Collaborate with designers, architects, and engineers to ensure material compatibility with both functional and aesthetic goals
• Provide technical input for sourcing structural and decorative materials, including stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and specialty finishes
• Investigate and resolve material-related issues such as corrosion, surface degradation, or coating failure
• Oversee inspection and testing of raw materials and fabricated components to ensure compliance with design and finish standards
• Stay updated on innovations in material science, surface treatments, and industry certifications relevant to architectural metalwork
• Advise on performance and maintenance considerations for exposed metals in diverse environments

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with relevant materials experience
• 2–5 years of experience in architectural metalwork, façade, or related construction/fabrication sectors
• Strong knowledge of metals, finishes, and corrosion behavior in exterior/interior environments
• Familiarity with standards such as ASTM, EN, BS for metalwork and coatings
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and translate material needs into practical solutions
• Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
