About the role
Balfour Beatty have a fantastic opportunity for a Materials Engineer to join our Major Projects team, this role will be based at either Canary Wharf, London or Langley.
Our Major Projects business delivers large-scale, innovative, and complex infrastructure projects which keep the UK moving and the economy thriving. We operate within three principal markets; Transportation; Energy and Power, and Major Infrastructure.
What you’ll be doing
As a Materials Engineer you will support the management and delivery of materials engineering services within the work winning function of the materials team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in tender related activities.
  • Critically evaluate information and submissions provided by external partners.
  • Ground investigation assessments including contaminated ground.
  • Prepare, plan, organise, manage, and review data including basic statistics.
  • Prepare simple testing budget estimations.
  • Application of national and internation standards.
  • Review specifications and works information.
  • Distil large volumes of technical information and presenting to non-technical members of the wider work winning team.

Who we’re looking for

What we are looking for:

  • Degree qualified preferably in Geological or Earth Sciences or have relevant professional experience in either Civil or Construction Materials Engineering.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence and CSCS card.
  • Up to date technical knowledge of materials engineering and industry best practice in most aspects including awareness of lower carbon materials.
