Description

Shinagawa Refractories Australasia is the largest refractory manufacturer in Australia and operates manufacturing plants in Unanderra (NSW), Kwinana (Western Australia) and Huntly (New Zealand) to cover the full range of refractory products to a wide range of industries across the Australian and SE Asian markets.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, key aspects of the role of Materials Engineer are:

  • Conduct, document and report on R&D projects to develop new products, improve existing products and evaluate new and existing raw materials
  • Assist in product service post-mortems
  • Provide small quantities of product for field trials
  • Support day to day plant operations and assist with plant manufacturing trials as required
  • Maintain equipment used in the technical department as required
  • Assist Sales personnel in servicing customers as required

To fulfill this role, the applicant must have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a Materials Engineering discipline with minimum 12 months experience in a similar role
  • The ability to learn and understand the outcomes and validity of R&D project results
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work as part of a team and communicate with both management, co-workers and customers
