Materials Management Technician 1.0 full-time, dayshifts with rotation (40 hours/week) Union position: AFSCME Posted: 10/23/2025 Are you organized, dependable, and ready to make a difference behind the scenes in healthcare? UPMC Altoona is hiring a Materials Management Technician to support our hospital operations. This is a day shift position with occasional rotation to other shifts as needed. What You’ll Bring: At least one year of experience in supply chain operations or related fields such as logistics, warehousing, inventory management, courier services, shipping/receiving, or stocking supplies—especially with automated material systems. Your Role: You’ll help ensure our hospital runs smoothly by managing supplies and linens across departments. Responsibilities include: Store Room & Linen Room Operations Inspect and restock supply areas daily Distribute supplies and equipment throughout the hospital Receive, record, and deliver orders accurately and on time Verify linen counts, stage and transport carts, and maintain a clean, organized linen room Ensure compliance with hospital, DOH, and JCAHO standards Inventory & Distribution Work collaboratively with other techs to locate, stock, and distribute supplies Perform cycle counts and monitor expiration dates Pull orders and maintain product knowledge Safeguard inventory through proper stocking, issuing, and crediting procedures Courier & Mail Services Provide daily pickup and delivery of inbound/outbound mail and interoffice correspondence Deliver processed goods to departments and obtain necessary signatures Communication & Documentation Resolve vendor and customer issues professionally Complete forms and records accurately; interpret measurement data Use basic computer programs (Windows, email, inventory systems) Communicate effectively with departments, vendors, and delivery drivers Quality & Accuracy Identify and report discrepancies, shortages, or damages Verify supply requisitions for accuracy and completeness Education: High School Graduate Experience Required: One year of supply chain experience with automated material system or equivalent.
