QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years or more of materials management experience required
  • 5 years or more of purchasing, inventory control and logistics experience
  • Experience purchasing/negotiating with steel suppliers considered a strong asset
  • Technical knowledge related to metal fabricated machinery considered a strong asset
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office and ERP (Microsoft NAV)
  • Strong knowledge of procurement and negotiation best practices
  • Excellent organization skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of working under pressure on multiple projects simultaneously
Responsibilities
  • Research and evaluate suppliers and vendors, negotiate and audit contracts for pricing, terms, functional capabilities, safety, etc.
  • Solve problems and issues related to the position (vendor/supplier relations, supply issues, etc.) at a high level
  • Direct and coordinate aspects of purchasing and materials management process
  • Lead and supervise Purchasing Agent
  • Issue and maintain purchase orders and change notices
  • Manage and coordinate facility and equipment maintenance and repairs by outside vendors
  • Determine purchase quantities, review and approve invoices and purchase orders
  • Update and maintain required documentation, produce reports as required and present as necessary to Senior Management team
  • Expedite items as required
  • Direct and co-ordinate the updating and maintenance of various production schedules and plans
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities and address issues related to shipments
  • Review inventory levels and planning parameters for stock parts
  • Participate and report on full physical count at year-end inventory
  • Develop and communicate material management policies and procedures, as well as contribute to Product Development, Product Improvement Processes, MEPS, and ERP and BOM processes
