Description

We are seeking a highly organized and dynamic Materials Manager to oversee the planning, procurement, and management of materials for our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials management, supply chain processes, warehouse oversight, and inventory control within a manufacturing setting.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
· 5+ years of experience in materials management or supply chain within the manufacturing environment, preferably the construction industry.
· Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and tools.
· Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
· Effective leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

· Materials Planning: Develop and implement material planning strategies to ensure inventory levels meet production schedules without excess or shortages.
· Procurement: Manage the procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiation of contracts, and ordering materials to ensure timely delivery.
· Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and implement systems for tracking material usage and stock levels.
· Warehouse Oversight: Oversee warehouse operations to ensure efficient storage, organization, and retrieval of materials, implementing best practices for inventory control and safety.
· Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality materials and favorable pricing.
· Cost Control: Analyze material costs and seek ways to optimize expenses, provide reports to upper management regarding material efficiency.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality assurance, and logistics teams to ensure seamless operations and address material-related challenges.
· Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as environmental standards concerning material usage and waste.
· Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the materials team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement using lean methodologies and professional development.
· Lean 5S Implementation: Lead the implementation of LEAN 5S principles throughout the materials management process, including sorting, setting in order, shining, standardizing, and sustaining efforts. Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to 5S practices and recommend improvements.
· This position requires travel between our London and Waterloo facilities, with an expected distribution of approximately 60%-40% at each facility. Candidates should be prepared for regular commuting to
foster collaboration and ensure seamless operations across both sites. Flexibility in scheduling may be necessary to accommodate project needs and team meetings.
