Description
Forecasts and communicates engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers. Provides input to outsourcing decisions by performing make versus buy analysis. Coordinates demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure. Forms Materials Core Team and coordinates product development process deliverables through matrix management of buyers, planners, and production control. Collaborates with engineering team to interpret engineering requirements. Under some supervision, creates, releases and updates new project materials strategy. Executes commercialization (transition) materials plan). Manages materials change control process. Works with engineering to identify preliminary critical parts, long-lead parts and inspection requirements. Assists in developing supplier and commodity road maps to engineering. Leads purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels. Support of P1/P2/P3 shoratges for supporting Manufacturing builds. Leads problem resolution for material related accounting and receiving issues War Room Representation for Shortages, and Singapore Production meeting, and collaborates with Planning, Suppliers, SAM and Demand Management. Negotiates cost : Includes MCOGS reduction, liability exposure or Expedite/Reworks Defines business processes, drives continuous improvement Leads purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels. Leads problem resolution for material related accounting and receiving issues. Develops methods of business simplification for the procurement function. Participates in the development of ISO documents for the purchasing function. Acta as Primary Decision maker for Singapore vs Austin priorities to support shortages, works with AGS stakeholders to pull inventory and support Mfg builds, as applicable and manages activities of the purchasing group in the manager's absence. Works with engineering and MPM or SCM to recommend new suppliers. Issues RFQs, analyzes proposals, negotiates prices and delivery, issues and/or adjusts purchase orders in a timely manner. Pulls and reads part specifications and engineering drawings. Utilizes knowledge of material types to communicate with engineers and suppliers or recommends Alternate solutions/BOM changes, if it's possible by working w/ Mfg Engg/DEA. Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus
