Materials Specialist – Team LeadCompensation: Starting at $26/hour (higher rates based on experience and skill set)

We are seeking a Materials Specialist – Team Lead to support operations through strong leadership, lean practices, and a safety-first mindset.

What You’ll Do:As a Materials Specialist – Team Lead, you’ll play a key role in streamlining operations and ensuring smooth execution of materials flow. You’ll support and guide your team, help manage inventory systems, and promote a culture of safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Promote and model a safe, clean, and compliant working environment.
  • Use lean management practices to assign daily work and set priorities for material handling activities.
  • Monitor quality, inventory accuracy, and material flow to ensure timely production support.
  • Train, coach, and guide team members on equipment usage, software systems, and safety practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify improvements and support plant-wide initiatives.
  • Provide shift coverage and act as a liaison between departments as needed.

Qualifications:To thrive in this role, candidates should meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment OR
  • High school diploma/GED and at least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience operating and training others on forklifts (OSHA certification a plus)
  • Prior exposure to inventory software (Epicor Vantage or similar highly desirable)
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience leading or mentoring others in a fast-paced warehouse or production setting
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence practices
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills #metrocareers
