Description
This position is based at our Orchard Park, NY facility. The Materials Supervisor will direct departmental activities and initiate/participate in cross-functional activities to accomplish the objectives of safety, quality, productivity, on time delivery, inventory and continuous improvement; which focuses on removing cost from the business. This position is 1st shift (6:00 AM -3:30 PM). Manage departmental operations and prioritize functional requirements as needed each day. Assign daily work assignments where applicable for direct and indirect employees. Monitor and provide coaching / follow-up for employee performance regarding safety, quality, and productivity. Monitor machinery, equipment, facility, and initiate maintenance work orders / IT Tickets as required, to ensure efficient, effective, and safe working conditions. Coordinate and maintain clerical files regarding attendance, overtime equalization, vacation, training, and time-off requests. Provide training resources within the department for training new employees, skill attainment, and job advancement opportunities. Interpret and consistently apply all company policies and procedures. Lead cross functional team where applicable to improve processes and meet plant objectives. Create and maintain working relationships with employees initiating employee engagement. Initiate and coordinate assistance as required from support departments. Monitor and update daily productivity numbers / metrics and adjust resources as needed to meet daily workload. Promote / foster lean concepts, 5S, and visual management tools within the department. Promote / foster continuous improvement initiatives within the department and or across departments to improve efficiencies and meet company goals and objectives. Track departmental issues, lead / coordinate root cause investigation, and implement corrective measures where applicable. Minimum of a Bachelors Degree, from an accredited institution OR equivalent Military experience, in lieu of degree. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a warehouse / stockroom environment. Minimum of 1 year of supervisory/leadership experience (including formal Team Lead experience). Minimum of 1 year of professional ERP and WMS experience. Relocation is not provided. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee or Refugee. 3+ years of leadership/supervisory experience. Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering. SAP and/or Oracle ERP System experience.
