Are you a Materials Technician looking for your next challenge? Tarmac is looking for a Materials Technician to join the team at our site in the Kings Cross area of London.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Materials Technician who is in receipt of the following:

  • Understanding and ability to apply the relevant BS EN Standards
  • Is able to demonstrate a knowledge of raw material requirements and the Ready-Mix production process
  • Has a sound knowledge of Ready-Mix test requirements and customer specifications
  • Able to confidently advise on technical issues
  • Able to accomplish tasks and processes accurately and completely with little supervision
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Materials Technician, you will report into the Senior Technician for Ready-Mix and be part of a team that are critical to the control and analysis of all products and constituent testing relating to Ready-Mix products in a safe and timely manner.

Your responsibilities in this role will include (not exhaustive)

  • Carrying out product sampling and testing in line with procedures and British Standards – BS EN 12350 & 12390
  • Ensuring testing is carried out timely and meeting test frequency which is reported in the departmental Quality KPI’s
  • Carrying out equipment calibration in line with procedures and British Standards
  • Assisting with and undertaking concrete trial mixes and routine aggregate testing in line with procedures and British standards
  • Ensuring testing procedures are fully documented, understood and communicated to relevant people and support any remedial action to prevent impact to product quality
  • Promoting a safety culture
  • When required, providing advice to Technical Supervisors, Managers and Production colleagues on test results and interpretation
  • Preparing and presenting test reports to help investigate customer complaints and queries
