YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate of Materials/Metallurgical/Mechanical Technology program or equivalent (Chemical program may also be considered)
  • Standing for up to 8 hours a day and being able to push/pull with 70 lbs force
  • Repetitive work that is physically demanding and requires attention to detail.
  • Previous exposure to fatigue, corrosion (ASTM/NACE), and tribology testing is beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organization skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for gathering and processing test data
Responsibilities

In alignment with the Lifting Solutions culture, mission, vision and values, you will be responsible to:

  • Operate fatigue test equipment. Including: set-up, alignment, specimen preparation, fixture changeovers, calibration checks, safe lock-out/tag-out, and daily logs.
  • Perform materials testing and inspection covering activities such as cutting and sectioning, operate advanced imaging for documentation (controlled lighting/photo booth, macro/micro imaging, and consistent file management) to produce publication-grade images, etching samples, elastomer physical property testing, rubber-metal bond testing, and non-destructive inspection such as Magnetic Particle Inspection and Liquid Penetrant Inspection.
  • Set up and operate rotational and reciprocating wear (tribology) tests across different environments; build/execute test matrices; track priorities; and perform post-test dimensional/weight loss measurements and surface observations
  • Prepare and run corrosion tests (sample sectioning, precise cutting, mounting/coating/polishing, ultrasonic cleaning, solution prep, daily monitoring of pH/temperature/flow, safe sample handling, and post-exposure cleaning, weighing, dimensional measurements
  • Summarize test results, and document findings in an organized and thorough manner utilizing Microsoft Excel or via email communication
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing/QA for on-line trials, ensure sample chain of custody, promptly escalate anomalies
  • Effectively utilize and schedule lab equipment to manage multiple test requests and priorities.
  • Responsible for proper functioning of applicable lab equipment by performing preventive maintenance activities and coordinating repairs with other departments.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment-specific and test-specific laboratory work instructions and maintenance logs.
  • Carry out housekeeping activities of the lab area and participate in lab 5S activities.
