JOB SUMMARY: Nicklaus Engineering Inc. is currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Materials Testing Technician to join our team. The Materials Testing Technician supports construction and engineering projects.  The Materials Testing Technician performs standardized and non-routine materials testing under the direct supervision of the Geotechnical Laboratory Manager or designated senior technical staff or project managers. The Materials Testing Technician is responsible for ensuring testing accuracy, regulatory compliance, and proper documentation of results. This role helps ensure that construction activities comply with project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.  Materials Testing Technician also participates in ongoing safety and equipment training to ensure proper and safe performance of all duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING: Materials Testing & Field Duties * Perform standardized materials testing (soil, mortar, grout, concrete, asphalt, aggregates) in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and company procedures. * Conduct independent field sampling and testing, including compaction testing, concrete sampling, slump testing, air content testing, density testing, and asphalt sampling. * Interpret project plans, specifications, and testing requirements to ensure proper compliance. * Prepare detailed daily field reports and laboratory reports with accurate data, observations, and photographic documentation. * Review test data for completeness and accuracy prior to submission. * Identify non-conforming materials or field conditions and promptly notify project managers or senior technical staff. * Coordinate testing schedules with contractors, inspectors, and project personnel. * Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot testing equipment in accordance with company and industry standards. * Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies at all job sites. * Assist in maintaining laboratory organization, equipment logs, and quality assurance documentation. * Support quality control audits and assist with documentation required for accreditation standards. * Operate, clean, and maintain testing equipment. * Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced field environment. * Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. * Good analytical and critical thinking skills.  * Good verbal and written communication skills.  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Prior experience in construction, materials testing, or surveying. * ACI Grade 1 Field, Nuclear Gauge Usage, OSHA 30, HAZWOPER and CPR – First Aid certifications. * Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry, mobile field apps). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to lift and carry up to 50+ pounds. * Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat. * Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods. * Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * High School Diploma or GED. * Two (2) or more years in construction experience preferred. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: * ACI Grade 1 Field Certification * Nuclear Gauge Usage Certification * CPR/First Aide * Valid Driver’s License and Evidence of Insurability.
