YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT AT EXP

EXP’s St. John’s Earth and Environmental group is currently seeking a Materials Testing Technician/ Technologist for its materials testing laboratory in Mount Pearl and projects in St. John’s and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Practice Manager, the successful candidate will provide appropriate technical services to Project Managers and Engineers for those projects assigned.

WHAT YOUR EXPERIENCE LOOKS LIKE

  • Civil Engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized technical college, or equivalent experience, and be eligible for registration with Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologist of Newfoundland and Labrador (AETTNL);
  • CCIL certification is an asset;
  • Experience in materials laboratory and field testing and geotechnical settings (concrete, soils, asphalt testing, test pits and boreholes);
  • Applies knowledge with CCIL, ASTM and CSA testing methodology and laboratory and field testing procedures;
  • Familiar with various civil, earth moving and construction projects;
  • Effective oral and technical written communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office – WORD, EXCEL). Experience with AutoCAD and gINT would be an asset;
  • Willingness to travel around Newfoundland and Labrador and participate in field investigations and materials testing;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Be a motivated self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team environment;
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and reliable vehicle;Two to five years related experience is considered an asset.
