Maternity Support Worker, Band 3 (15 hours a week)
Maternity Care Assistants in our Antenatal Clinics play a key role in supporting pregnant individuals and their families throughout their pregnancy journey.
Working closely within a multidisciplinary team of Midwives and Maternity Support Workers, you will c ontribute to the delivery of high-quality care across our Antenatal Clinics, Maternity Assessment Centres and Trisomy Screening Programme.
This is a dynamic and varied role, which includes responsibilities such as phlebotomy (taking blood samples), among other clinical support tasks. The position is based in an outpatient setting, and flexibility to work at both Cheltenham and Gloucester Clinics is essential.
As t his role focuses on antenatal care, please be aware this does not involve the care of newborn babies.
1. Taking blood samples from adults
2. Collection and testing of urine
3. Taking observations including temperature, pulse rate and blood pressure.
4. Undertaking Carbon Monoxide monitoring
5. Recording your actions accurately in relevant IT systems and on paper
6. Liaising with the multi-disciplinary team
7. Escalating concerns to the Midwife
8. Cleaning and stocking the department
9. Answering the telephone and responding to queries
We are a welcoming team of Midwives and Maternity Support workers who work closely together in the Antenatal clinics in Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals, providing antenatal care to pregnant people with complex pregnancies.
We are one part of Maternity Services in Gloucestershire and work closely with our colleagues in the Community and those on the Birth Units, Delivery Suite and Maternity Ward.
