In this multifaceted role, you will provide critical care in the theatre and recovery areas for women undergoing surgical procedures, as well as offer essential support in the postnatal ward when theatre and recovery workloads are light. MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB
Maternity Theatre/Recovery Nurses will utilise their theatre skills to lay up theatre trays, assist at elective and emergency caesarean sections and prepare to scrub during an emergency vaginal delivery. Following delivery, they will use their skills to recover the women from either spinal/epidural anaesthesia or general anaesthesia. They will support the smooth running of maternity theatre, working closely with midwifery and obstetric teams. Training midwives how to scrub in an emergency caesarean section will be an additional part of their role.
