JOB SUMMARY

Kumon is the world’s leading after-school learning program, dedicated to helping students build strong skills in math and reading while developing into confident, independent learners. Kumon Poco Hyde Creek is currently seeking dependable, motivated, and hardworking individuals to join our team as Math and Reading Teaching Assistants. This is a long-term, part-time opportunity.

SCHEDULE

Applicants must be available Wednesday 3–7 pm and/or Thursday 3–7 pm. Please apply only if you can commit to one of these shifts.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Strong academic ability in both Math and English (minimum Grade 12 level; preferably including Calculus in Math).
• Excellent English reading comprehension and writing skills.
• Must complete an assessment test as part of the hiring process.
• Reliable, responsible, patient, and professional.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Prior tutoring or teaching experience with children is strongly preferred.
• University students or individuals seeking long-term part-time work are ideal.
• Familiarity with Kumon (as a student or staff) is an asset.
• Passion for working with children and supporting their learning.
• Must provide RCMP Background and Vulnerability Check clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and encourage students during study sessions.
• Mark and record students’ homework and classwork using answer keys.
• Guide students through corrections and introduce new concepts following the Kumon Method.
• Help students strengthen study habits and organizational skills.
• Communicate any concerns about student performance or progress to the Instructor.

Pay: $17.85-$20.00 per hour
