BACHELOR’S OR MASTER’S DEGREE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION, ACTIVE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER LICENSE AND MINIMUM 1+ YEARS SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT MEET THESE QUALIFICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

A contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support high school students in a co-teaching environment. This role requires teaching across core subjectsEnglish Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studieswith opportunities to lead your own instructional section in your specialty area.
Location: Des Plaines, Illinois
Schedule: 35 hours per week, 5 days a week
Duration: August 11th (or ASAP) to June 4th, 2026
Age Group: High school students
Compensation: Starting at $50 per hour

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • LBS1 certification for Special Education
  • Minimum of 1 year co-teaching experience in a traditional high school setting
  • Strong knowledge and ability to teach one or more core subjects: Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies
  • Effective collaboration skills for co-teaching model

Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach core academic subjects alongside general education teachers
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students with special needs
  • Plan and deliver lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Maintain accurate student documentation and progress reports
  • Communicate regularly with team members, parents, and support staff
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
