POSITION: Mathematics Teacher LOCATION: Rogers High SchoolREPORTS TO: Principal and or designee of Rogers High SchoolSCHOOL YEAR: 2025/2026JOB DESCRIPTION: To create flexible high school grade programs and an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students; to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education, in accordance with each students ability; and to establish good relationships with parents, staff members and their administrators.EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE: Must hold a valid RI Certification with Secondary Grades Mathematics teacher (Grades 7-12) Evidence of developing teaching strategies that will address the unique needs of each student;Ability to know and utilize technology in the teaching and learning process;Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, education experience, teaching, educational experience, and the interview process;Any such alternatives to the above qualifications as the committee may deem acceptable and appropriate.Successful completion of the Science of Reading TrainingRESPONSIBILITIES: Teaches courses in Mathematics, utilizing the School Departments curriculums and other appropriate learning activities;Develops lesson plans, and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;Provides individual or small-group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students and to accommodate circumstances where a variety of projects may be worked on simultaneously;Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction;Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom;Evaluates students academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports;Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students progress and interpret the school program;Identifies students needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems;Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers;Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities;Selects and requisitions books and instructional aides, maintains required inventory records;Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day;Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program;Demonstrates an understanding of standards-based education and how it is implemented in the classroom;Participates in curriculum development programs as required;Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities;Performs such other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or designee at Rogers High School.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month position; appropriate salary/benefits in accordance with the Teachers Contract.
