Excel teachers are responsible for delivering effective, high-quality, rigorous college-preparatory instruction designed to foster the success of their students. They also have a great deal of passion and expertise in their content area that they are eager to share with students. Duties and Responsibilities Teach Middle School MathCollaborate with department members on curriculum refinement and implementation;Design and implement rigorous assessments that evaluate student mastery of academic standards;Create a safe learning environment for all students by implementing Excels strategies and best practices with consistency;Provide coverage as needed during non-instructional time;Serve as a productive member of the Excel Academy community; andDo whatever it takes to ensure the mission of the school is upheldQualificationsA Bachelors degree is required; a Masters degree is preferred;Rhode Island certified (Middle Grades 5-8) or in the process of obtaining certification. Preference will be given to applicants who also:

  • Have experience in a public or charter school setting;
  • Speak Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic fluently;
  • Can speak to the importance of rigorous classroom instruction and culture;
  • Can speak to the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
