MATHEMATICS / FUNCTIONAL SKILLS TEACHER - SEMH SCHOOL - ISLINGTON

Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Remedy Education are working with a specialist SEMH school in Islington who are looking for a passionate Mathematics and Functional Skills Teacher to join their team. The school supports students with social, emotional and mental health needs, and they are looking for someone who can deliver both Maths (KS3-KS4) and Functional Skills in a way that engages, motivates and supports each learner.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • QTS or equivalent with strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
  • Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths is desirable
  • Previous experience working with SEMH students or similar needs
  • Good knowledge of the UK Maths curriculum (KS3-KS4) and Functional Skills frameworks
  • Patience, resilience and excellent behaviour management strategies
  • A genuine passion for helping young people reach their potential

Responsibilities
  • Teaching Mathematics at KS3-KS4 as well as Functional Skills Maths
  • Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to students’ needs and abilities
  • Supporting students with SEMH by creating a safe, positive and structured learning environment
  • Working closely with support staff, therapists and parents to ensure both academic and emotional progress
  • Monitoring and assessing student progress, putting in place strategies to help them achieve their goals
