Beyond Education is an Ofsted regulated tutoring company in Urmston, Manchester. We tutor children aged 4-18 in English, maths, science and also for school entrance exams. Children are tutored face-to-face in our centre and therefore staff are expected to teach from our centre.
The teacher must be available to teach on Thursdays from 4-8pm. Additional teaching hours available 10am-8pm weekdays for the right candidate.

We are looking a qualified maths teacher to join our team who:

  • has a passion for teaching the secondary maths curriculum
  • is available to work (at least) Thursdays between the hours of 4-8pm
  • The position is suitable for any qualified maths teachers including NQTs, RQTs.

Expected/non negotiable:

  • Subject to enhanced DBS check
  • Able to work independently using initiative as well as working as part of a team
  • English and maths GCSEs grade B or above
  • A levels or equivalent
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS)
  • Subject to references
  • Available to work at least Thursday evenings (plus other weekday evenings and daytime hours for the right candidate)
  • Able to teach to the maths GCSE syllabus up to higher tier

Desired/preferred;

  • DBS check on update service
  • Flexible
  • Experience of teaching maths to A level
  • Experience of teaching key stages 3-5
  • Experience working with children with SEND needs particularly neurodivergent students and those with SEMH difficulties

Successful candidates will;

  • Teach secondary school pupils in mathematics on both a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Support colleagues with less experience (e.g. supporting training, guiding, mentoring those who are not qualified teachers)
  • Plan effectively for their sessions, including those in small groups
  • Ensure resources are organised and ready to teach before sessions
  • Liaise with colleagues and parents regarding students’ progress
  • Plan for a teaching assistant to support small group sessions
